After Navarro claimed in an interview Monday that Tesla was a car “assembler” rather than a manufacturer, SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk spat with White House Senior Counselor Peter Navarro on social media Tuesday.
Of all the American-made vehicles, Tesla has the most. Navarro is stupid than a sack of stones, Musk remarked in an X post on Tuesday.
Musk remarked in another post, “Navarro is really a moron.” His statements here are patently untrue.
Trump’s closest aides, Navarro and Musk are both former directors of the White House National Trade Council and Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy during Trump’s first term.
As a “special government employee,” Musk is now leading the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency project to reduce government waste and expenditure.
To handle short-term initiatives for approximately to 130 days in a single 365-day period, which will expire at the end of May for Musk, the executive or legislative branches may hire temporary workers.
Days after the Trump administration announced a round of tariffs Wednesday, the two advisers’ conflict arose. Apart from tailored tariffs for nations with greater duties on American products, the program establishes a baseline levy of 10% on all imports to the U.S.
In the meantime, Musk supports free-trade principles.
In an interview on Monday, Navarro said on CNBC that Musk is a “car person” who desires “cheap, foreign parts.”
Navarro stated, “When it comes to tariffs and trade, we all in the White House know, and the American people know, that Elon is a car manufacturer, but he’s not a car manufacturer.” He assembles cars.
HeadlinesForever Digital could not contact Musk or Navarro for comment.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed the conflict as evidence of the administration’s openness.
Leavitt responded, “Whatever,” as reported by CNBC. Our government is the most open in history; we voice our differences publicly.
When requested to comment on the subject, the White House directed HeadlinesForever Digital to Leavitt’s CNBC remark.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., meanwhile, claimed the incident revealed the Trump administration’s “chaos.”
Schumer stated on the Senate floor Tuesday, “The chaos inside the Trump administration was revealed a few minutes ago when Elon Musk called Peter Navarro, the chief architect of these tariffs, a moron.” Musk said that. He referred to him as a stupid. Their strategy is so insane and contentious that this government cannot organize itself with them hurling insults against one another on this tariff proposal.
