Johnson Defies Musk’s “KILL THE BILL” Demand – The GOP Civil War Explodes

Elon Musk’s already strained relationship with Republican lawmakers in Washington has taken a new turn as Republican Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana rejects the tech billionaire’s request for a fresh budget reconciliation measure.

“A new spending bill should be drafted that doesn’t massively grow the deficit and increase the debt ceiling by 5 TRILLION DOLLARS,” Musk commented on the following day.

Shortly thereafter, he upped his rhetoric by adding, “KILL the BILL.”

The president’s enormous agenda package was infeasible, according to Johnson, and the clock was ticking against Congress.

In response to HeadlinesForever’s request for comment, Johnson stated, “We don’t have time for a brand new bill.”

What we’ve achieved here is complicated, and I want Elon and my friends to understand that. The speaker informed reporters that this remarkable piece of legislation had a record amount of savings, record tax cuts for the American people, and all the other benefits listed in it.

For over fourteen months, we labored over the measure. Neither should you nor us return to square one. We are delivering an excellent product here.

Johnson urged those who were against the law to avoid letting perfection stand in the way of what is good.

In this product, we take great pride. “The Republicans in the House are really pleased with it, and we’re glad to tell everyone about it,” Johnson added.

“Surprised” by Musk’s comments, the Republican from Louisiana had previously stated during the news conference.

Earlier, the speaker made note of the fact that Republicans want to use a means other than reconciliation to formalize the budget cuts recommended by Musk’s DOGE.

After months of praising his work with DOGE, Musk has been pressing hard on the legislation, which has left Republican lawmakers in a tough position.

On issues like as taxes, immigration, energy, military, and the debt ceiling, the enormous package that the House has already approved and is now being examined by the Senate furthers Trump’s objectives.

Leaders in the House Republican caucus have asked the Senate to make minimal changes to the measure because of their narrow margins of victory. Legislators in the Senate have already indicated their desire for reforms, and the GOP there also has a razor-thin majority.

The measure has continued to get support from the White House.

The president is well aware of Elon Musk’s position on this measure. The president is unmoved. His adherence to this massive, aesthetically pleasing law is unwavering, according to Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s Tuesday statement.
