As Donald Trump’s legal bills mount, you can now add “Bibles” to his list of products.
The “God Bless the USA Bible”—a $59.99 Bible based on the hymn by country musician Lee Greenwood—was promoted by the former president on Truth Social Tuesday, and he urged his fans to purchase it.
“I hope this Holy Week finds you in good health. Amass the Nation in Prayer Once More. In his message, Trump encouraged his followers to “get a copy of the God Bless the USA Bible” as they approached Good Friday and Easter. He included a link to a website where the books could be purchased.
Although the sales are not directly benefiting Trump’s campaign, the agreement was licenced by Trump, so he is expected to reap the benefits of it, as stated on the Bible’s website.
The website indicates that it uses Donald J. Trump’s name, likeness, and picture under a paid licence from CIC Ventures LLC. The site also notes that the licence can be suspended or revoked according to its conditions.
Trump has previously offered a variety of items for sale, including trade cards, a portion of the suit he wore when he was photographed for the first time as a former president (together with copies of the mugshot), trainers with his name on them that cost $399, and a share in his social media company.
He was ordered to post a bail of $175 million to block the enforcement of a $454 million civil judgement for corporate fraud the day before, and Tuesday’s sale follows that. The bond was reduced by a panel of New York state appeals judges.
E. Jean Carroll, a defamatory author and advice columnist, accused Trump of raping her in a dressing room at a department shop in the 1990s; a $91.6 million bond was obtained by Trump earlier this month to evade enforcement of the $83.3 million judgement against him. Even though Trump denies the accusation, a federal civil court jury convicted him guilty of sexual assault.
