White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt states that President Donald Trump is convinced that Zohran Mamdani, a democratic socialist, will “crush” New York City if elected mayor.
The comment was made by Leavitt during a press briefing on Monday, when she was answering reporters’ queries regarding Mamdani’s triumph in the democratic mayoral primary.
When asked about recent demands for Mamdani’s deportation, White House correspondent Peter Doocy of HeadlinesForever brought up the comments of a congressman who had suggested denaturalizing Mamdani. Doocy then questioned Leavitt on the matter.
To my knowledge, he hasn’t said that. To my knowledge, he has not requested that. He definitely does not want this person elected, though. Leavitt spoke out in response, saying, “I was just talking to him about it and [Mamdani’s] radical policies that will completely crush New York City.” The president clearly has a soft spot for the metropolis.
Even though Leavitt anticipated a rocky relationship between Trump and Mamdani, she continued by saying that Trump would be prepared to collaborate with Mamdani if elected.
Listen, the president is someone who is always game to collaborate. Across the country, he is collaborating with Democratic governors. And he promised to collaborate with those on the extreme left. Republicans are his allies. He assists those who are situated in the center. He aspires to do the right thing by the United States,” Leavitt stated.
However, it’s clear that this person is a communist at heart and rejects all that America stands for: common sense, law and order, low taxes, hard labor, and earning one’s keep. None of it is acceptable to him. In addition, I believe that a president-elect would have a hard time collaborating with someone of such kind. More from the president on that, I’m sure, but for now, you just have to wait. “May the people of New York City make an informed decision,” she said.
In last week’s Democratic mayoral race, self-proclaimed democratic socialist Mamdani prevailed against established favorite and former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, among other contenders.
For his refusal to denounce the slogan “globalize the intifada” during his interview on MSNBC on Monday, liberal podcast presenter Donny Deutsch criticized Mamdani.
“It infuriates me that our mayoral candidate in New York, Mr. Mamdani, refuses to recant or denounce the phrase ‘globalize the intifada,’ and his subtlety in saying, ‘Well, it means different things for different people.'” The terrorist assaults on October 7 in Boulder, Colorado, were used by Deutsch as examples of what it means to a Jew: violence.
It’s meant that way. That is the core of it, and that is its significance to Jews. It would be very appreciated if additional groups could step up and express their anger at these hurtful statements. Violent acts are implied. It worries us; I would expect a reaction, but for some reason, it’s not insulting to Jews,” Deutsch went on to say.
Even though he had many chances to denounce the words “globalize the intifada” during his appearance on Sunday’s “Meet the Press” on NBC, Mamdani chose not to.
