Johnson Defies Trump, Pushes DOJ to Release Epstein Secrets

Disgraced millionaire Jeffrey Epstein died in prison after being charged with sex trafficking. Speaker Mike Johnson wants Attorney General Pam Bondi to explain prior remarks on the subject and demands that the DOJ provide all of its evidence regarding Epstein.

Since the Justice Department and the FBI have determined that there is no proof that Epstein had a client list or was assassinated in his prison cell, the Trump administration has chosen not to disclose any further details about his death this month. Democrats sought to use Tuesday afternoon’s House vote as a referendum to compel the White House to release the information, but Republicans opposed the motion.

Conservative pundit Benny Johnson interviewed Johnson immediately following the vote, and Johnson stated that he is “for transparency.”

“You should put everything out there, let the people decide it,” the Republican from Louisiana stated, recognising the subject’s delicate nature.

After switching sides on Monday and endorsing the attorney general, he went on to say that Bondi should explain her comments on Epstein’s “client list.”

According to what I gathered, the papers she mentioned were on her desk. “She needs to come forward and explain that to everybody,” Johnson said, adding that he was unsure if she was referring to a list or anything particular.

A request for comment was not promptly addressed by the DOJ.

Bondi said Fox News in February that there were Epstein probe documents “sitting on my desk right now,” one of which allegedly included prominent figures linked to Epstein’s sex crimes.

Bondi stated earlier this month that she did not have a client list, but she refuted this at a Cabinet meeting.

As for my part, I simply said that it is now awaiting review on my desk. That is, the file in question, as well as the JFK and MLK files,” Bondi stated during the meeting.

Outrage at the administration’s choice to suppress information described in the papers has been expressed by some of Trump’s biggest supporters, including congressional members and Elon Musk, his former senior adviser.

On Tuesday, Trump backed Bondi in the face of demands that she resign.

“That has been expertly handled by the attorney general. “I think that when you look at that, you’ll understand it,” Trump told reporters at the White House. He went on to say that she had done an excellent job.

In a Tuesday statement, Johnson expressed his “anxiousness” to have the matter settled.

The Department of Justice must prioritize its work. The president’s top priorities, including dealing with violent crime, public safety, election integrity, ActBlue, and other issues, should be addressed after this is handled, according to Johnson.
