Senators who argued with HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. during Thursday’s Senate Finance Committee meeting were rebuked by Vice President JD Vance, who called them “full of s— and everyone knows it.”
In his questioning of Kennedy, Senator Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) accused the senator of putting children in danger through his careless actions and policies motivated by a conspiracy. Wyden went on to say that he felt Kennedy had “no regrets” over a “fundamentally cruel” objective.
Kennedy rebutted by drawing attention to the fact that chronic illness rates reached 76% during Wyden’s decades in office.
X subsequently included the Vice President’s tirade, in which he addressed the opposition directly and used profanity.
“When I see all these senators trying to lecture and ‘gotcha’ Bobby Kennedy today all I can think is: You all support off-label, untested, and irreversible hormonal ‘therapies’ for children, mutilating our kids and enriching big pharma,” Vance said in a post on X. “You’re full of s— and everyone knows it.”
“Thank you @JDVance,” Secretary Kennedy said in her repost of the vice president’s message. You have pinpointed the most pressing issue.
Following the contentious session, several members of the White House spoke out in favor of Secretary Kennedy. “Secretary @RobertKennedyJr is taking flak because he’s over the target,” wrote press secretary Karoline Leavitt. By prioritizing open government and supporting research that meets the highest scientific standards, the Trump administration is working to combat the underlying causes of chronic diseases. It would take just Democrats to undermine such a reasonable initiative.
“Democrats are getting absolutely TORCHED by @SecKennedy,” commented Taylor Budowich, de facto chief of staff for the White House. They are mouthpieces for the failing medical dogma that has contributed to America’s declining health status; they don’t appear to care about health or human services whatsoever. Very well-prepared hearing by the Secretary.
The discussion followed a day in which over a thousand present and past HHS workers demanded that Kennedy step down.
Wyden stated at the hearing that Kennedy’s term was characterized by “chaos” and “corruption” that benefited Trump and himself at the expense of families’ health care bills and that Kennedy had elevated conspiracy theories while mismanaging federal health agencies.
Kennedy, he said, was “taking vaccines away from Americans” and plotting to punish physicians who didn’t follow his procedures.
“The busiest, most proactive administration in HHS history.” Kennedy boasted about his department’s accomplishments.
He stated that in only six months, HHS has addressed a wide variety of problems, including contaminated food and infant formula, unsafe drinking water, high medicine costs, electronic cigarettes, heroin sold at service stations, and delays in prior authorization.
“We’re ending gain of function research, child mutilation and reducing animal testing,” added Senator Kennedy. Concerns such as sickle cell anemia, hepatitis C, excessive screen time for adolescents, chemical leak in East Palestine, inadequate nutrition teaching in medical schools, and many more are being addressed. Now more than ever before, the Food and Drug Administration is expected to approve more medications this year.
