America’s Energy Boom: Trump’s Blueprint for Economic Freedom

With President Trump back in office, our country’s energy security will be restored via smart energy policies. Our country may now look forward to a future in which American energy is encouraged rather than constrained. The American people sent a clear message in November by completely backing a pro-energy agenda, and President Trump delivered on day one by taking strong action to restore our country’s leadership in energy security.

First, the Trump administration intends to extend our onshore and offshore lease sales.

By increasing onshore and offshore lease sales, our country may regain leadership in domestic energy production, lowering global carbon emissions and decreasing reliance on foreign rivals and foes.

Earlier this year, in the midst of a presidential transition, President Biden took a very political and economically risky decision to block offshore oil and gas extraction in huge parts of the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean, just weeks before President-elect Trump takes office.

As I recently stated on Fox Business: “If it wasn’t so serious, it’d be sophomoric.” In some ways, we shouldn’t be surprised: the Biden administration has made every effort since its inception to politicize American energy production and use, and last year, it astonishingly proposed the smallest lease sale in history.

Offshore access accounts for 14% of total US crude oil output, with a market value of $40.04 billion. Both of these statistics have capacity to expand, with some estimating that by 2032, the American offshore drilling sector may be worth about $75 billion, representing a nearly 90% rise in value in less than a decade. This would, of course, result in an increase in high-paying jobs from Alaska to California to Gulf areas such as Texas and Louisiana.

Second, as stated in his Energy Executive Order, President Trump promised to end the damaging LNG moratorium.

By lifting the liquefied natural gas (LNG) hold, long-overdue permits will be expedited, allowing the LNG sector to continue sustaining thousands of American jobs while also fulfilling our promise to our friends overseas.

Despite more than a decade of market data and independent analysis demonstrating that LNG exports boost economic and environmental security in the United States and throughout the world, former Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm issued a note last month advocating caution when approving LNG projects.

LNG plants have provided considerable economic advantages to towns around the country, particularly on the Gulf Coast. According to a recent National Association of Manufacturers estimate, US LNG helped create more than 200,000 employment in 2023 alone.

Despite Ms. Granholm’s apocalyptic rhetoric, the DOE analysis reveals that U.S. LNG has environmental advantages, including fewer emissions. U.S. greenhouse gas emissions are decreasing in relation to energy production, with the most severe growth scenario assuming unrestricted LNG export licenses and no further carbon capture technology, resulting in a 0.05% increase in emissions over the next 25 years.

Third, President Trump’s Energy Executive Order vowed to repeal Biden’s controversial EV regulations.

Consumers will now be able to make their own decisions about which automobiles or trucks they drive, since the federal government should not dictate Americans’ transportation requirements. President Trump’s Executive Order asks federal agencies to reconsider these programs, which include tax subsidies for EV sales, federal financing for charging infrastructure, and regulatory incentives to encourage automakers to transition from gas-powered to electric cars.

On day one, the Trump administration revoked the Biden administration’s restrictive energy policy to liberate American energy. President Trump’s second term will undoubtedly build on the tremendous success of his first, cementing our country’s position as the world’s leading producer of oil and natural gas and the greatest exporter of liquefied natural gas.
