In his first public statements since telling the world he had prostate cancer, former president Joe Biden joked Friday that he could take on anyone who doubted his sanity.
The declaration by Biden follows the publication of many books that expose his mental decline during his presidency. One of these books, “Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again,” was released on May 20.
After addressing a Memorial Day gathering on Friday, Biden made a joke with reporters, saying, “You can see that I’m mentally incompetent, I can’t walk.”. “And I could beat the hell out of both of them.”
It seems like Biden was making a reference to CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson, who wrote the book.
Allegations in the reporters’ book include Biden’s incoherent speech in campaign ads, “so scripted” cabinet sessions, and a cover-up conspiracy by Biden’s staff to conceal the severity of his mental deterioration.
However, Biden’s camp has rejected the claims made in the book.
One of Joe Biden’s spokespeople told HeadlinesForever Digital, “There is nothing in this book that shows Joe Biden failed to do his job, as the authors have alleged. Nor did they prove their allegation that there was a cover up or conspiracy.” Therefore, the book cannot be believed. They don’t prove that our country’s security was in jeopardy or that the president wasn’t attending to other crucial issues related to his office. Indeed, Joe Biden was a skilled and compassionate leader who accomplished much as president.
This year has seen a plethora of books detailing Biden’s declining mental health. In May, audio recordings of an interview he had with former Special Counsel Robert Hur in October 2023 were leaked, revealing that Biden had trouble maintaining proper pronunciation and seemed to have forgotten the year his son passed away.
His staff later said that Biden had never before gotten a diagnosis of prostate cancer; nevertheless, he did disclose that he had a “aggressive form” of the disease on May 18. Biden expressed his “optimistic” outlook on his diagnosis and treatment, which involves taking a medication, to reporters on Friday.
“My expectation is we’re going to be able to beat this,” stated Vice President Biden.
On Friday, Biden paid tribute to the fallen at a Memorial Day ceremony hosted by the Delaware Commission on Veteran Affairs.
During the ceremony, which was organized by the Delaware Commission of Veteran Affairs, Biden stated, “We come together and remember the debt we owe to the American military.”
“The military is a solid spine, the spine of our nation,” according to him. Our service members, veterans, and their families, especially those who have received the Gold Star award. The percentage of Americans willing to defend the other 99% is a meager 1%. A just one percent of American citizens take the ultimate risk. We are indebted to them to an extent that will never be repaid.
