From Fitness to Unity: GOP’s New Year’s Resolutions Revealed

Most Americans see the start of a new year as a fresh start and an opportunity to set objectives for themselves for the next 12 months – and members of Congress are no different.

Legislators, like millions of Americans, are making their own New Year’s resolutions, which range from professional to deeply personal.

House Foreign Affairs Chairman Michael McCaul, R-Texas, who is stepping down from the committee’s top position due to term limits, said he intends to use his new role as chairman emeritus “to be a strong voice on foreign policy and national security issues.”

On a more personal level, McCaul told HeadlinesForever Digital that he made a New Year’s resolve to “do daily exercise and devote my time to the things that are most important in life, such as family.” “And taking the time to smell the roses.”

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Florida, stated that her New Year’s aim was to eat more healthfully.

“My New Year’s resolve is to avoid eating anything containing seed oils. “It’ll be nearly impossible because they stick them in everything,” she added.

Meanwhile, Rep. Pat Fallon, R-Texas, discussed a bigger aim of unity in 2025 with his fellow House Republicans, following a 118th Congress marked by unparalleled levels of dissension and infighting.

“I always said that the Republican conference is a big family,” Fallon told reporters. “We may be dysfunctional at times, but we’re still a family, and my New Year’s resolution is that we can all sing from the same sheet music enough times to make a difference for the American people.”

House Freedom Caucus Chairman Andy Harris, R-Md., stated, “My New Year’s resolution is to help Make America Healthy Again by steering our nutrition policy toward promoting healthy food choices, starting with changes to the food stamp (SNAP) program.”

On the Senate side, members passed resolutions to further the Republican agenda.

“With a new year, a new Congress, and a new President, I am confident we can put America back on track and herald in a new golden period. My 2025 resolutions are to help secure our southern border to protect our families and communities; to restore regular order to reduce wasteful spending and ensure Congress is a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars; and to pass pro-family tax reform that expands opportunity and prosperity across our country,” Sen. Katie Britt, R-Ala., told HeadlinesForever Digital.

Mike Lee, a Republican from Utah, said, “My New Year’s resolution is to become less tolerant of climate alarmism and hasten the demise of the administrative state.” The Republican will lead the energy committee in the new Congress.

Sen. Steve Daines, R-Mont., announced that his resolve is to “confirm all of Trump’s nominees and secure our borders.”
