A representative for the ex-mayor of New York City, Rudy Giuliani, said on Sunday that the former mayor is in the process of healing from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident in New Hampshire, including a broken spine.
Michael Ragusa, Giuliani’s head of security, stated on X that the chief executive’s vehicle was hit from behind on Saturday night while going on a highway.
Ragusa stated, “This was not a targeted attack.” She went on to say, “He sustained injuries but is in good spirits and recovering tremendously.”
Injuries sustained by 81-year-old Giuliani included “a fractured thoracic vertebrae, multiple lacerations and contusions, as well as injuries to his left arm and lower leg,” as reported by Ragusa. He was then sent to a trauma facility in the area.
As Ragusa put it, “a woman who was the victim of a domestic violence incident” had “flagged down” Giuliani before the accident, and he had called police help on her behalf. According to Ragusa, who spoke with The Associated Press via email, the event was “entirely unrelated” to the domestic violence case, and Giuliani went on his way once the police arrived. His vehicle was struck immediately after he pulled onto the highway.
Ragusa also stated in the X post that “no one knew it was him” while Giuliani was in a rental automobile.
Neither the New Hampshire State Police nor another Giuliani spokesman named Ted Goodman were available immediately when contacted for comment or any information on the collision.
“I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has reached out to me since hearing about my father,” Rudy Giuliani’s son Andrew Giuliani announced on X. “The world is changed by your prayers.”
The former Republican presidential candidate, who was nicknamed “America’s mayor” for his leadership in New York City following the 9/11 attacks in 2001, had a rough go of it in the years leading up to the weekend accident.
Even though Democratic candidate Joe Biden won the 2020 election, Trump’s claims of fraud were strongly supported by Giuliani, who then became Trump’s personal attorney for a while. Numerous examinations, audits, and recounts of the election results found no indications of major misconduct or mistake, and Trump and his supporters lost dozens of lawsuits claiming fraud.
Subsequently, two ex-employees of Giuliani’s in Georgia were awarded $148 million in a slander verdict. Meanwhile, the ex-federal prosecutor was declared in contempt of court and was subject to a trial this winter about the ownership of some assets as they attempted to collect the judgment. He finally reached an agreement that allowed him to retain his houses and other possessions, including valuable World Series rings, in return for money and a pledge not to criticize the former election workers.
