No Joint Ops, No Masks: The Rules Chicago Just Set for Police and Feds

On Saturday, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson signed an executive order outlining the city’s preliminary strategies to oppose President Trump’s impending immigration crackdown.

Despite “escalating threats from the federal government,” the mayor has issued an order directing local departments and law enforcement to take certain actions. According to various individuals involved with the preparations, the Trump administration is getting ready to launch a massive immigration enforcement operation in Chicago next week, as previously reported by HEADLINESFOREVER.

Military intervention in the immigration system is a possibility. We could also spot members of the National Guard. Armed vehicles and active duty military personnel might be spotted on our streets. This has not been requested by us. Even if our citizens haven’t requested it, we must comply, Johnson stated Saturday as he signed the executive order.

Joint law enforcement patrols, arrest operations, or other law enforcement activities, including civil immigration enforcement, will not be carried out by the Chicago police, as the mayor’s directive “affirms.”

Also, the directive “urges” federal cops working in the Windy City “to refrain from wearing masks, to wear and use body cameras and to identify themselves to members of the public with names and badge numbers.” Furthermore, Johnson emphasized that the uniform policy of the city’s police force must be strictly enforced.

Further, Johnson’s directive instructs Chicago government agencies to “pursue all available legal and legislative avenues to resist coordinated efforts from the federal government” that infringe upon the citizens’ rights.

Though its efficacy in halting Trump’s intentions remains uncertain, the mayor’s directive finally asks that the president “stand down” from sending military troops to Chicago for immigration enforcement.

It is the most recent move to counter the assaults on cities headed by Democrats by the Trump administration. This comes as Trump has hinted at extending his attempts to increase police presence outside of major areas like DC and Los Angeles.

According to earlier reports on HEADLINESFOREVER, the current crackdown on crime in the nation’s capital is distinct from the administration’s intentions for Chicago. Trump instead sent the National Guard to Los Angeles in June to suppress immigration protests, so they should resemble that. That deployment is the subject of a legal challenge that Trump is now dealing with.

While the specifics of Trump’s executive order to form “specialized units” within the National Guard to combat urban crime remain murky, the move was announced earlier this week. In the event that any state, territory, or the District of Columbia experiences an emergency requiring security or law enforcement assistance, the National Guard currently has response units that are prepared to respond.

It would be a first of its kind, according to some academics and city officials, for Trump to utilize his executive powers to send the National Guard and other federal law enforcement agencies to American communities.

Johnson spoke out against Trump’s potential move to send federal soldiers to the third-largest city in the US in an interview with Anderson Cooper of HEADLINESFOREVER on Monday.

“The Constitution does not permit this. According to him, it’s both pricey and unlawful. Is further work required? Sure, I can provide that. Is the deployment of military forces into urban areas a viable strategy for enhancing public safety? Without a doubt.

On Saturday, the White House referred to Johnson’s action as a “publicity stunt.”

People would live in far safer neighborhoods if these Democrats put their energy into making their hometowns safer rather than putting it into public relations stunts meant to discredit the president. The White House spokesperson, Abigail Jackson, told HEADLINESFOREVER that the fight against crime should not be politicized.

Another Democrat from Illinois who has spoken out against Trump’s proposal to send federal troops to Chicago is JB Pritzker. The president was allegedly “searching for ways to circumvent our democracy, militarize our cities and end elections” earlier this week, according to a news conference he held.

“How could the White House possibly justify planning such a remarkable action without consulting or conversing with the governor, the mayor, or the police if the goal was to combat crime and make the streets safer?” That was what Pritzker stated.

The administration wants mayors and governors “to ask for help,” Vice President JD Vance said Thursday while visiting La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Chicago isn’t too far away. Many criminal incidents have occurred in Chicago. The fact that their own citizens are being kidnapped and killed in public places is more important to certain governors and mayors than the promise of assistance from Donald Trump. As far as he was concerned, it was completely illogical.
