Elon Musk, co-founder of Tesla and federal employee number two, is starting to wind down his tenure at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Despite massive outcry and record layoffs during his time as DOGE’s public face, the tech magnate says he has no regrets about his stint in the Trump administration.
Despite initial support from the media and progressives, Musk has faced criticism for his choice to become a public figure. With his acquisition of Twitter (now X) and his public endorsement of then-candidate Donald Trump, Musk’s year has certainly not been “boring.”

Musk made the statement during an interview that aired on Saturday on “My View with Lara Trump.” He was speaking on how important it was for President Trump to win in order to keep America great and achieve even better things.
Despite his past as a fundraiser for Obama, Musk turned out to be a Trump supporter in the months leading up to the 2024 election, claiming that Joe Biden had led the “most radical-left, crazy administration ever.”
“Whoever controlled the auto pen and telepromptor during the Biden administration was the real president,” according to him.
Furthermore, Musk informed Lara Trump that he was of the belief that “if President Trump had not won, I think the Democrat campaign to import vast numbers of illegal voters would have succeeded,” and that the United States would have been in danger of becoming a “one-party state from which we could never escape.”
“I understand that there are some who are wary. A Democrat plot to undermine democracy and establish a permanent one-party, deep blue socialist state may cross their minds. I can promise you that the more you look into it, the more you’ll realize that it’s true.
After Trump’s victory in November, Musk was immediately put to work by the new government, although there is widespread hostility to his attempts to slash costs.
It has certainly not been dull; this has been, to put it mildly, an exciting year. Thankfully, I was spared a gunshot. Keep your positive outlook, Musk said.
Still, we’ve seen incidents where individuals have set fire to Tesla dealerships and automobiles. The degree of violence was unexpected, he said.
Even Musk himself admitted that bad actors will target him and his businesses, calling it “somewhat inevitable.”
A “relentless propaganda campaign” by Trump administration opponents, who are trying to “destroy [his] public perception” and “do character assassination,” is contributing to the response, he added.
According to Musk, the public’s outcry proves that DOGE’s efforts are “effective.”
On Tuesday, President Trump celebrated his 100th day in office. The Department of General Services (DOGE) said that it had eliminated at least $160 billion worth of federal waste, fraud, and abuse.
Efforts to reduce federal spending by reducing the federal staff and hundreds of millions of dollars in DEI contracts have been implemented by DOGE in recent months, and they show no signs of slowing down.
The first hundred days of Trump’s presidency were momentous for DOGE, but Musk showed the world the kind of legacy he hopes to leave behind.
“That I was useful in the furtherance of civilization,” he informed Lara Trump. “That I helped move civilization forward, added to the store of knowledge and capability — that I helped to understand the universe.”
