RFK Jr. Cleans House at HHS—2 Top Aides Fired Without Warning

Two senior advisors to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the HHS secretary, have been let go.

The department’s leadership website no longer has the bios of his chief of staff, Heather Flick Melanson, or deputy chief of staff of policy, Hannah Anderson.

The Immediate Office of the Secretary has undergone a leadership transition, according to an HHS spokeswoman who talked with HeadlinesForever Digital. “Effective immediately, Matt Buckham will serve as Acting Chief of Staff.”

Currently, Mr. Buckham is in charge of the recruiting and onboarding of political appointees across the United States Department of Health and Human Services in his role as the Kennedy White House liaison. The spokesman went on to say that he is an asset to the new position due to his background in organizational management and people planning.

“Secretary Kennedy thanks the outgoing leadership for their service and looks forward to working closely with Mr. Buckham as the Department continues advancing its mission to Make America Healthy Again,” according to a spokesman.

During the first Trump administration, attorney Melanson had many high-ranking positions at HHS.

Before becoming a senior advisor to then-HHS Secretary Alex Azar, she served as interim general counsel for HHS, was its secretary for administration, and finally left that position.

Trump has once again appointed Harmeet Dhillon, who was an attorney with Dhillon Law Group before joining HHS, to the position of assistant attorney general.

“Heather Flick is outstanding and will most definitely help soon to be Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr.,” wrote Michael Flynn, a former national security adviser to Trump, in a post on X following the announcement of Flick’s transfer.
