According to a source who has been briefed on the incident, the guy who is accused of assaulting Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, in the couple’s San Francisco home, had a suitcase with him that included numerous zip ties among other things.

According to San Francisco Police Chief William Scott, David DePape, 42, is charged with attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, burglary, and other offences in connection with the attack on Friday morning.

HEADLINESFOREVER It was previously stated that DePape accosted Pelosi and yelled, “Where is Nancy?” as he inquired about his wife’s whereabouts.

Two individuals told HEADLINESFOREVER on Friday that the newly discovered information helps to clarify what happened during the attack on Friday, in which DePape also attempted to restrain Paul Pelosi.

The screams of “Where is Nancy” echoed the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Police believe DePape intentionally entered the house, despite the fact that they have not yet identified a motive.

DePape allegedly entered the house through the rear entrance, though it is unclear if he managed to get past any security precautions, according to the police.

According to a law enforcement source and another source familiar with the situation, Paul Pelosi was able to dial 911 when the attack first started. According to the law enforcement source, he was able to keep the line open and the dispatcher could overhear a dialogue in which he spoke covertly but made it plain that he wanted assistance.

According to the police chief for San Francisco, when officers arrived at the residence at 2:27 a.m. local time (5:27 a.m. ET) on Friday, Pelosi and DePape were fighting over a hammer. Before being knocked to the ground and taken into custody, officers observed DePape “violently assault” Pelosi with a hammer.

“Officers ordered both guys to put down the hammer while they were still outside the threshold of the doorway. Mr. DePape brutally struck Mr. Pelosi with the hammer as soon as he yanked it away from him, Scott said at a news conference on Friday. The officers entered right away, tackled the suspect, grabbed the hammer away from him, and arrested the culprit, Mr. DePape.

According to San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins, DePape will likely be charged with several felonies on Monday and arraigned on Tuesday.

Drew Hammill, a spokesperson for Nancy Pelosi, said in a statement early Friday evening that Pelosi was rushed to a hospital after the incident and underwent “successful surgery to treat a skull fracture and major injuries to his right arm and hands.” Paul Pelosi is anticipated to recover fully.

In a letter addressed on Saturday to every member of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi stated that while her husband has made progress since the attack, their children and grandkids “are heartbroken and terrified.”
