As the Republican contender for vice president begins to carve out a more distinct position for himself on Donald Trump’s campaign, JD Vance intends to accompany Kamala Harris to a number of states that are considered to be in the race for president this coming week.
Vance will accompany Harris on a three-day visit to four crucial states, a practice known as “bracketing” in political lingo. The itinerary was initially shared with AWN. Harris will be in Philadelphia on Tuesday to unveil her freshly appointed vice presidential candidate, and he will make his first appearance there the same day.
While the Trump team intends to attack the vice president on immigration, crime, and the economy, the senator from Ohio is likely to utilize these visits to attack Harris on these same issues. Vance has been laying the groundwork to become the campaign’s top policy critic, with the goal of painting Harris as ideologically extreme on various fronts.
Vance is also planning to make an appearance in the media, possibly on shows that aren’t usually associated with conservatives. On podcasts targeted at younger voters, he is likely to take an active role: “Full Send” is a podcast that young men love, and last week the 40-year-old Vance was on it.
Someone in the know about the trip’s logistics says that instead of campaign rallies, Vance will be speaking at press availabilities. “Everyday Americans” whose lives have been changed by the initiatives of the Biden administration will also be featured at the events.
Wednesday will see Vance traveling with Harris to Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Detroit. Raleigh, North Carolina is the destination of Vance’s Thursday travel plans.
Vance hopes to overcome some early setbacks after being selected as Trump’s vice presidential contender last month. His previous remarks against “childless cat ladies” have gotten him in hot water, even from some conservatives. Vance, though, has Trump’s support. Trump told Fox News that Vance “loves family” and that his comments had been misunderstood. At Saturday’s campaign event in Atlanta, Trump and Vance were introduced by Vance, the former president.
