What Authorities Aren’t Revealing About the Armed Man Shot Near the White House

U.S. Secret Service officers opened fire on an armed man outside the White House early Sunday during an altercation, according to authorities. The suspect was thought to be traveling from Indiana.

A Secret Service statement said that the gunfire that occurred at midnight approximately one block away from the White House did not damage anybody else. The president was in Florida when the tragedy happened.

Following tips from local authorities on a “suicidal individual” believed to be on the road from Indiana, the Secret Service located the man’s vehicle and an individual who matched his description in the area.

“Our personnel fired shots during an armed confrontation that ensued as officers approached the individual brandishing a firearm,” the Secret Service stated.

The guy ended up in the hospital. His condition was described as “unknown” by the Secret Service.

Since the incident involving the gunshot included law enforcement officials, the Metropolitan Police Department will be conducting the investigation. No one responded right away to a message left with the police on Sunday.
