David Pecker is once again a witness, and the jurors have been re-introduced.
By bribing a doorman at Trump Tower for a story he was peddling at the time, Pecker narrated the first “catch and kill” that the National Enquirer carried out in the 2016 election season.
Dino Sajudin, Trump’s doorman at the Trump Tower penthouse, allegedly knew that the president fathered a kid with a housekeeper. According to Pecker, the allegation was found to be totally false after being reviewed by Dylan Howard, who was his top editor at the time. Nonetheless, Pecker consented to pay $30,000 to ensure that the story would not be purchased and published by another media.
“So, this was the plan all along?” Pecker was asked by prosecutor Joshua Steinglass.
“That’s right,” he replied.
Pecker added that he would have published the allegation after the 2016 presidential election if it had been proven genuine. According to Pecker, “it would be probably the biggest sale of the National Enquirer since the death of Elvis Presley” if the tabloid carried the story exclusively if it were true.
